All About Los Angeles Restaurants




L.A. has much to offer. City of Angels is always on-the-go and seemingly driven by glitz and glamor. And if you're willing to fight the traffic, you'll find some of the world's finest restaurants, shopping and attractions - from studio trips to museums, from beaches to piers

L.A. is the symbol of big, bold and beautiful - and most of the hobbies in this town are floating around "on stage". So, if you had your share of the beach, head inland to tour the star-studded Sunset Boulevard or Melrose Avenue - and keep your eyes out! From restaurants and bars drive the social hustle n 'bustle, it's better to let the afternoon power nap if you want to keep up with the cool kids.


Remember: the stars come out at night - this is LA after all. This city seems to shimmer after sundown ... you can rock on the Sunset Strip or club in Hollywood. So, if you like your bars cool, your martinis dry, and your wonderful restaurant, make sure you've got your wallet, your appetite and your energy for your night on the town Hollywood style.

Know this: the fight broke out between our editorial board, when someone foolishly suggested we limit our journeyPod Picks in LA for only 10 restaurants and 10 bars. We had so much fun tearing in Tinseltown that we had to go with 15 selections in each category. Of course, another fight ensued when we tried to assign numbers for all of these hotspots - so cooler heads prevailed and we, because they removed the ladder

Restaurants


1 Koi: (West Hollywood) If your goal is to spot Hollywood's A-list celebrities, make reservations at LA's hottest Asian-fusion restaurant where you're going to see and be seen. Although the service can be rushed sometimes, who really cares? Food is just too damn good. welcome relief from the hectic Melrose scene, Koi is a haven of feng-shui elements (candles, water and open patios). Here's advice: the request of a horseshoe booths in the back garden. Located at 730 N. La Cienega Blvd (between Melrose Ave. Santa Monica Blvd and .)..


2 Morton's Steakhouse (West Hollywood) Legendary Oscar-night parties, star-struck celebrity watchers can often see their favorite actors in culinary repose at this Tinseltown power-elite restaurants. No, I repeat - do not confuse this with the Arnie Morton's of Chicago steakhouse chain. And, if you have enough room after you chow'd down honest dry aged steak you come here, red banana-nut Beignets with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce or hot-melt in your mouth chocolate-espresso cake. Morton's can be found at 8764 Melrose Ave. (and Robertson Blvd .).


3.Ivy: (West Hollywood) Dealmakers and dream-making lunch in this house with a white picket fence (this is where most celebrities go when they really want to be photographed by the paparazzi are always lurking). While the shabby-chic furnishings (think antique French furniture that needs images) may not be all that inspiring, traditional American comfort food. Just make sure to taste the Caesar salad (the most perfect one we have ever eaten) before you let yourself be seduced by the decadent desserts. Watch closely for the sign (it's hidden in the ivy) as you walk to 113 N. Robertson Blvd. Alden and Dr.


4 Dolce Enoteca (West Hollywood) Talk about the quintessential celeb hot-spot (Ashton Kutcher - and about half the cast of "That 70's Show" - it has)! Hollywood heavy hitters in the big lounge booths and enjoy the sexy decor of black leather and marble. Nibble on Italian-style tapas perfect for sharing. Be sure to try the risotto © es entre gorgonzola, and save enough space for lavishly rich ricotta cheese, cream for dessert. Located at 8184 Melrose Ave. and Sweetzer Ave ..


5 Dan Tana's (West Hollywood) Who says LA does not have good Italian food? Walking into the restaurant is like entering time warp back to 1950's NYC. old Hollywood atmosphere is matched only food (simply delicious and loaded with garlic). Hollywood moguls, actors, writers (and Wannabes in all three categories) flock of spaghetti carbonara and shrimp Diavolo. From booking here is still one of the hardest to get in, be flexible on time (psst. .. eat late here is better anyway). Located at 9071 Santa Monica Blvd. at Doheny Dr.


6 Asia de Cuba (West Hollywood) I feel like rubbing elbows with Hollywood's elite? Then head over to the place that has been doing since before the Fusion "fusion" even its own kind of food categories. Asia de Cuba is the Sunset Strip to enter the Asian-Latin fusion menu choices ranging from large (the larger) parts of the budget served family-style (try a delicious calamari salad and a finger-lickin 'good coconut cake). You can choose to sit indoors or out - but keep in mind that outdoor patio offers spectacular views and is one of the best in LA by night, Asia de Cuba has been turned into luxury sexy soiree. Located inside the Mondrian 8440 Sunset Blvd.


7 Mr. Chows: Another place for elbow-rubbing Tinseltown. In Beverly Hills, hot cool off quickly, but this place is held to see and be seen, for what-seems-like an eternity (Mr. Chows opened in 1973). Your Chinese food is "all grown up" and fancy here - Chows offers excellent dishes that will leave you wanting more (must be ordered green prawns marinated in a spinach dressing and grilled filet mignon). Psst ... the best night for celebrity star-sightings are Wednesdays and Thursdays. And you'll alwaysknow caliber in the number of paparazzi celebs by reading their fortune cookies at the curb. Mr. Chows is located at 344 N. Camden Dr. (Wilshire Boulevard and ).


8.Mala Door (La Brea / Miracle Mile) Looking for a romantic hide amidst the hustle and bustle of LA? Back door (the house-turned-restaurant) is your answer - just make sure you find a place. With indoor and outdoor seating, this little place does not advertise nor permit publicity - Yes, it's so good! After you make your way past two simple wooden door, you'll find a romantic courtyard with porch furniture, garden, twinkling candles and impeccable menu. Back door can be found at 8164 W. Third St. (Crescent Heights Blvd .).


9 Sushi Nozawa (Studio City) Yes, this is the strip mall (located at 11 288 Ventura Blvd.). And, yes - the lights are brighter than the sun mid afternoon. But it is us, the decor is not what is important - Sushi is what is important. And it's a bit of abuse as they (the word on the street is someone was once kicked out at the request of California rolls!), as long as you get to eat some of the best sushi this side of Tokyo!


10 Angelini Osteria (La Brea / Miracle Mile) Mama Mia - Now that is conducted! Of paper thin pizza garlic-infused lasagna, everything here is superb - even if you do not think May at first, like the waltz their way into a modest, often stuffy dining at one of LA's most famous Italian restaurants. Not only will you be greeted like family, you'll be offered a menu filled with some serious choices - do not forget to pay special attention to the desserts. You May even be interested in Justin Timberlake and his girlfriend, Cameron, dining here (since this is the place on top of their list). Located at 7313 Beverly Blvd. and Poinsettia Ave.


11 Sushi Roku (West Hollywood), a beautiful interior is as visible as the people who flock here - many Hollywood deals follow the innovative and succulent sushi dishes. "Cali touch" is evident in every dish, and sake / beer options are limitless. Do not even think about leaving without tasting steak dynamite, espresso profiteroles and "Roppongi" (mouth-watering mix of vodka and sake served with a ginger stick). And, do not bother coming without a reservation. Located at 8445 W. 3rd St. (between N. La Cienaga Blvd. and S. Croft Ave .).


12 Matsuhisa (Beverly Hills) If you love your sushi and do not mind an adventure - do not walk, run to this place. With groundbreaking cuisine, Matsuhisa offers more than 100 dishes. If you let us make your order, we are going with an unforgettable omakase tasting menu, which starts with a master chef Nobu Matsuhisa signature cold dishes and ends with a procession of dishes such as Kobe beef and black cod in Miso. Although the setting is modest, do not be fooled! Sushi is here as-good-as-it-gets. Matsuhisa is located at 129 N. La Cienaga Blvd. (and Wilshire Blvd .).


13 La Terza (Beverly Hills) Sophisticated - Italian - simplicity. Enclosed Orlando Hotel (formerly the Beverly Plaza), this multi-tiered, multi-faceted restaurant is immaculate, in its menu selections and design. Tuesdays are "Tavo Italiana" night, when chef Nancy Silverton cooks up a table in the middle of antipasto selection of restaurants. No reservations taken here - so it is on a first-come, first-serve basis (and definitely worth showing up for!) La Terza is located at 8384 W. Third St. (at Orlando ).


14 Massimo Ristorante & Bar: (Beverly Hills) I feel like a taste of Tuscany? Massimo, which is located just off Rodeo Drive in the heart of Beverly Hills (9513 S. Santa Monica Blvd.) is endowed with celebrities and entertainment folk who are deeply entrenched fans of Chef Massimo Cupboards true fare. Try the famous all-beef Bolognese dish. FYI: Massimo was recently on NBC's show "Recipe TV" featuring the world's greatest chefs.


15 AOC: (La Brea / Miracle Mile) Perhaps not the first tapas restaurant in town, but definitely the hottest! If grazing is a form of art for you, A.O.C. is the place to be ... sleek, modern and chic, the gang here is pure Hollywood glam. Almost everyone here seems to party like a rock star no matter - they all come for the extensive wine list and small plates of Mediterranean influence. menu changes daily, but rest assured that every dish is a taste of all.
